Frequently Question Ask

1.     What do I need to provide to register as a staff? 

Answer:

 You need to provide us with;

  • a valid passport showing eligibility to work
  • 2 proof of current address (bank statement, utility bills etc)
  • 2 Passport size photographs
  • Current DBS
  • Mandatory training
  • Proof of Immunisation
  • 2 references.


2.     Do I get to work as soon as I have completed registration? 

Answer:

We will only book you for a shift when your references have been received so it is important that you speak to your referees before putting their names forward and follow them up to ensure they respond quickly.


3.   How and when are bookings made?

Answer:

Bookings are made as and when staff are requested for shifts by our clients. These can be requested in advance or instantly and directly.


4.    How are bookings confirmed with staff?

Answer:

Bookings are confirmed by phone, text and email, whichever is timely and staff are required to send a response of acceptance or decline back to the office. 


5.   How and when are timesheets submitted?

Answer:

All timesheets must be submitted weekly with the cut off day being Thursday of the week. Submission can be by post, in person or a scanned copy and emailed to Accounts at accounts@mealtd.co.uk


6.     Can my timesheet be honoured without the Home Manager’s signature?

Answer:

No timesheets can only be honoured when it is properly completed by staff and countersigned by the appropriate Manager. Timesheets that are not correctly filled in and signed will be rejected as invalid.


7.     When are payments made? 

Answer:

Payments are made either weekly on a Friday or monthly on the first Friday of the month.


8.     How are payments made?

Answer:

Payments are made through our external Paying Partners by BACS. 


9.     Do you accept Registered Limited Company for staff payment?

Answer:

Yes; we will accept a registered limited company with an accompanying bank account for payment of staff wages.   


10.     How and what do I need to report on duty?

Answer:

You have to report on duty in smart casual wear; no jeans, no leggings or trainers. You need your timesheet and Millenium photo ID. You must also arrive 15 minutes before your shift and report to the person in charge.


11.     When is uniform applicable on duty?

Answer:

The smart uniform is required only when stated


12.     Where do I get a uniform?

Answer:

You can purchase a uniform from the Millenium office at a subsidised price.


13.     When do I need an ID?

Answer:

You need your ID at every assignment you attend on behalf of the Agency.


14.     Where can I get an ID?

Answer:

ID is provided by the office; however, if the client has their own ID pass you will be required to have both on assignment.


15.     When are the after-hours operational? 

Answer:

After hours are operational from 11:00 am to 07:30 am – Mon to Friday;


16.     What service is provided after hours?

Answer:

After hours are strictly emergency duties; such as booking new staff or cancelling shifts; checking on booked staff etc.


17    When do I need training?

Answer:

Training is provided annually; however, you may be required to re-train if you show a lack of up to date competence with below level quality of work.


18    Where do I get training from?

Answer:

Training can be done independently through externally accredited bodies or in-house through our partner training provider. It can also be online e-training, where seen as appropriate.


19    What is staff appraisal for?

Answer:

Staff appraisal is a time for taking stock of achievements and setting the agenda for future action for both the staff performance and employer achieved output.


20    Why do I need a periodic appraisal?

Answer:

You need periodic appraisal as a way to make constructive criticism which helps you not only to improve your performance in the job you do now but also to make decisions about the skills you may need to develop in order to achieve your ambitions for your future career.


21    Who is an appraisal good for?

Answer:

An appraisal is good for the staff; good for the people you work with and good for the employer. Employers see appraisals as a key part of a ‘performance management system’ designed to ensure that employees are in tune with developments in the business. Both Staff and employers believe that appraisals encourage staff to link their performance to the objectives of the organisation and respond to increased competition within their industry. 


22    How often is appraisal carried out?

Answer:

An appraisal is often carried out twice a year, i.e. every 6 months.


23    What is supervision about?

Answer:

Supervision is about administrative case management; reflecting on and learning from staff practice; personal support; professional development; and mediation, in which the supervisor/ manager acts as a bridge between the individual staff member and the organisation they work for. 


24    How can supervision help staff improve their practice?

Answer:

Good quality supervision can help staff improve their practice, by having them achieve better job satisfaction and give a commitment to their job, thus, they would tend to stay longer. 


25    How often is supervision carried out?

Answer:

Supervision can be carried out monthly or quarterly depending on the staff position.


26    How are Bank Holidays managed?

Answer:

The office is manned during Bank holidays and weekends from 08:00 am to 9:00 pm, then the on-call person manages calls until 08:00 am.


27    Can I visit the office for registration during Bank Holidays?

Answer:

Yes; you can receive full registration assistance as the office is manned from 09:00 am to 4:00 pm for registration.
